AR-15-Style Gun, Cocaine Found After Stop For 'Minor' Violations Plainfield Police
The firearm, which Plainfield police determined was stolen, was loaded with 27 live founds of ammunition, officials said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A traffic stop for "minor" violations on May 10 led Plainfield police to uncover a stolen, loaded AR-15-style gun and cocaine, officials said.
Kyle J. Clay, a 23-year-old resident of Romeoville, was pulled over at about 11:08 p.m. near Route 30 and Renwick Road for failing to signal and making an improper U-turn. The driver told officers his license was suspended.
While they spoke, an officer "made several observations" that led him to believe Clay was driving while under the influence, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch. Clay agreed to submit to voluntary Standardized Field Sobriety tests and a portable breath test. After, the officer placed the man under arrest on a DUI charge.
