Will Co. Coronavirus Positivity Lowest In A Month: IDPH

WILL COUNTY, IL — Coronavirus positivity in Will County is currently the lowest it has been in a month, according to public health data. The Illinois Department of Public Health website reports that as of Friday, the county has a positivity rate of 7 percent.

The number of hospital admissions for COVID-19-Like Illnesses have also decreased and no deaths have been reported since Tuesday.

This comes after Pritzker's administration issued a news release on Aug. 24 stating that Region 7 — the Will-Kankakee region — had been moved to stricter mitigations following three consecutive days of a rolling positivity rate above 8 percent. As of Friday, Region 7 has reached the threshold to lift mitigations of three consecutive days of a rolling positivity rate below 6.5 percent, with Friday's rate at 5.6 percent.

This means that as of 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, indoor dining and bar service can resume along with larger gathering sizes as outlined in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan.

There are a total of 81 new cases per 100,000 people in Will County and the target is 50. This number has decreased from 117 last week. The metric used for ICU bed availability is also showing positive signs and currently, 35.8 percent beds are available. This is a significant increase from last week's 29.9 percent.

According to the Will County Health Department, there are 13,211 cases in the county and 370 deaths as of Friday.
