On Monday, August 11, 2025, Ken-Rock Community Center at 625 Adam Street in Rockford is hosting a FREE Back-to-School Bash for local children and families from 11 AM to 4 PM. Free haircuts, free backpacks & school supplies, free lunches for kids and more! First come, first served, while supplies last!

"The goal is to ensure kids start the school year confidently, prepared, and excited. We are pulling together an incredible day filled with resources, fun, and support for our community," said Ken-Rock Community Center Representative.

  • Northern Illinois Food Bank has stepped in as a major partner, securing lunch for the first 100 children who attends.
  • Beautiful Ambitions Salon is providing free haircuts and braiding for kids.
  • The event will include bounce house to add some extra fun for the kids.
  • Local vendors, individuals, and organizations have stepped up, donated backpacks and school supplies for a free giveaway to help students get ready for the school year.
