ROCKFORD, IL — A lucky Illinois Lottery player came forward this week to claim their $1 million prize.

The winner, who bought the lucky ticket through the Illinois Lottery app, claimed the money at the lottery’s Rockford prize center. The winner said they had “never been a big lottery player” and were shocked by the win, according to a lottery news release Thursday.

“I even sent a copy of my ticket to my dad, who is super analytical, to double-check it for me,” they said in the news release.

The winning numbers in the April 3 drawing for Lotto Million 1 were 1, 11, 16, 21, 26 and 44. The winner is the third player in 2025 to win $1 million or more with Lotto, an Illinois-only game played three times a week on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. In addition to the regular drawing, Lotto offers two other drawings: Lotto Million 1 and Lotto Million 2, which provide more opportunities for players to win $1 million.

The most recent winner plans to use the money for a family vacation.

“My niece is especially fascinated by the history of Egypt, so I’m hoping to surprise everyone with a special trip there,” they said.
