RPS 205 families,

We need to share an update with our Early Childhood families about transportation for the 2021-22 school year.

Rockford is affected by the local, state and nationwide worker shortage, and it’s affecting our ability to recruit and retain bus drivers and driving staff.

Transportation is limited for RPS 205 Early Childhood students and programs. At this time, we do not have enough drivers to provide transportation to Early Childhood families who have completed the transportation request form for the first day of school Tuesday, Sept. 7.

RPS 205 contracts with Sunrise Transportation to provide busing for our Early Childhood program. If you have already completed a transportation request form, Sunrise will contact families by Monday, Aug. 30, who have a driver assigned beginning Sept. 7.

RPS 205 and Sunrise are working together to provide transportation to as many students as possible. It’s possible that transportation will not be available for the first day of school. It’s also possible transportation can only be provided one way – either to OR from school.

If you need to request transportation for the 2021-22 school year, please contact your family support specialist at your school to be added to a request list.

We will continue to share updates when they are available. Thank you for your understanding.
