Rockford Woman Indicted By Grand Jury For Shooting Teen In Legs
Samantha Holt, 33, faces up to 37 years in prison if convicted of the charges detailed below.

ROCKFORD, IL — A Rockford woman accused of shooting a 16-year-old male last month was indicted by a Winnebago County Grand Jury Friday, Winnebago County State’s Attorney Marilyn Hite Ross reported. Samantha Holt, 33, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated domestic battery as the result of an investigation following a Dec. 13 shooting in the area of Arline Avenue and Richmond Street, according to officials.
That's where police responded to a report of shots fired, and found a 16-year-old male victim who had been shot in the legs. Patch reported in December that according to the Rockford Police Department, the victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word yet on Holt's relation to the victim.
Rockford Police Detectives and SCOPE officers conducted a follow up investigation after the incident. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the investigation and approved the charges against Holt, according to officials.

Holt was taken to the Winnebago County Jail and is being held on a $500,000 bond, the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office Said. The State's Attorney's Office added that Holt is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 17 in Winnebago County and faces 37 years in prison if convicted of the charges.
