The teen, who was 17 at the time of the March 19 incident but has since turned 18, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm last week in Cook County juvenile court.

That day, police were called to a parking lot near the corner of West Touhy Avenue and Central Street for a report of gunfire around 6 p.m.

Niles police said the Chicago teen was initially taken into custody shortly after the shooting by Skokie police, who had been responding to an incident across Central Avenue at a trampoline park.

The investigation found that two drivers had gotten into a crash in a parking lot in the 5600 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to police.

One of them got out of the car with a handgun and fired seven rounds in the direction of the other car, police said. No one was injured and nothing was reported to have been hit.

The identity of the 18-year-old has not been released because he has been charged in juvenile court, where he first appeared before a judge on Thursday.
