SKOKIE, IL — Extreme heat is expected to bake the Chicagoland starting Saturday, with highs well into the 90s and peak afternoon temperatures of up to 105 degrees likely.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning in Cook County and a heat advisory in the surrounding areas. Conditions are expected to get dangerously hot and humid from Saturday to Monday, forecasters said.

"The magnitude of anticipated heat, combined with oppressive warmth at night will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions," the weather service said.
