Sweltering Heatwave Hits Skokie: Where To Find Cooling Centers

Dangerously hot weather is melting the Chicagoland. Here's where you can escape the heat in Skokie.

SKOKIE, IL — Punishing heat and humidity will hit the Chicagoland this week, according to the National Weather Service, with highs well into the 90s and peak temperatures of up to 110 degrees likely.

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat watch in Lake County. Conditions are expected to get dangerously hot and humid from Wednesday to Thursday, forecasters said.

"Dangerous heat index values of 105 to 115 degrees are expected Wednesday and Thursday. This stretch of heat will also include very warm conditions Wednesday night and possibly Thursday night," forecasters said.
