SPRINGFIELD, IL — Gov. JB Pritzker has directed Illinois officials not to hire participants in the Jan. 6, 2021, riots for state jobs after President Donald Trump pardoned over 1,500 people charged in connection with the U.S. Capitol attack.

“No one who attempts to overthrow a government should serve in government,” Pritzker said Thursday in a letter to Department of Central Management Services Director Raven DeVaughn, which was published by NBC News.

Pritzker instructed DeVaughn to consider participation in the Jan. 6 riots to be "infamous and disgraceful conduct" requiring rejection for Illinois employment under the state personnel code.
