Pregnant Woman Hurt In I-290 Chicago Police Chase (VIDEO)

UPDATED: Two people were arrested Tuesday after the pursuit of a carjacking suspect ended in a multi-vehicle crash that injured at least 3.

CHICAGO, IL — A pregnant woman was among at least three people hurt Tuesday after she was thrown from the car she was in when a Chicago police chase on the Eisenhower Expressway ended in a crash, according to WGN-TV News. Two men also were arrested after the multi-vehicle accident, which created delays after inbound traffic on Interstate 290 was reduced to a single lane just west of downtown, the report added.

The Eisenhower police chase began Tuesday, Aug. 1, when officers in an unmarked vehicle spotted a carjacking suspect considered to be possibly armed and dangerous as the passenger in a Cadillac, the report stated. During the interstate pursuit, the Cadillac slammed into a car near Sacramento Boulevard and then crashed into three other vehicles before flipping over near Ashland Avenue, the report added. Chicago police apprehended one suspect at the crash scene, and US marshals arrested a second suspect near the old Cook County Hospital building in the 1800 block of West Harrison Street, WGN reports. It's unclear if either suspect was among those injured in the accident.

Three lanes of inbound interstate traffic were shut down while police investigated the crash, according to the Tribune. The entrance ramps to the Eisenhower also were closed at Damen, California and Western avenues, the report added.
