Both mayoral candidates were sent a questionnaire, requesting them to return it with an attached biography. The endorsement team collaborated to develop questions that aligned directly with the school's values and community needs. Mayoral candidate Angela Patterson declined to meet with the union. Thompson did participate in a question-and-answer session with several Lindop Teachers' Association members, earning the union’s support.

“Mayor Thompson has demonstrated a passion for the future of our schools, students and the Lindop School District 92 community,” according Zinga’s statement. “Initiatives such as Broadview Freedom School, her advocacy for new sports uniforms and the renovation of school sidewalks highlight her commitment to inclusivity, equity and community-focused problem-solving.”

Thompson’s accessibility and willingness to listen applauded.

“She is always accessible and willing to listen, ensuring that the voices of educators, students and families are heard,” according to Zinga’s statement. “Through her leadership, she has expanded resources that provide students with opportunities to explore literacy, infrastructure, research, etiquette, and more. Her dedication goes beyond words. She follows through with action, ensuring our scholars have the support and experiences they need to thrive.”

The Lindop Teachers' Association represents the 40 teachers and other licensed staff working in Lindop School District 92. More than 300 students attend school in the district.

The mayoral election is April 1. Early voting begins March 17.
