Child Shot in the Back on Chicago's West Side
Police said a child was the victim of gunfire late Monday.

A young child was shot in the back on Chicago's West Side Monday night.
The shooting occurred around 10:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of West Polk Street in Lawndale, according to the Chicago Tribune. An NBC 5 broadcaster said the child was a 10-year-old boy, while a report on the network's website does not specify a gender and simply lists the victim as, "between 7 and 11 years old."
Police had not yet revealed additional details about the incident as of 11:20 p.m.

The Chicago Tribune report said the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and NBC 5 listed his or her condition as "critical."
