Golden Law in Broadview Celebrates Grand Opening

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle and Cook County Land Bank Authority Celebrate the Grand Opening of Golden Law in Broadview

CHICAGO— Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Mayor Katrina Thompson, Cook County Land Bank Authority (CCLBA) Executive Director Jessica Caffrey and Commissioner Tara Stamps celebrated the grand opening of Golden Law, in Broadview, Ill., founded by Shanita Straw. Straw purchased the property for the firm’s new offices from the CCLBA.

Straw began practicing law in 2009 and operates a general practice firm. Her goal is to cover all areas of legal service, recruit more attorneys and host free seminars to promote homeownership, business development and estate planning for the community. Straw grew up in Broadview and hopes her journey to go to law school, get a degree, purchase property, and give back to the community will inspire others in Broadview.

The CCLBA, which works on behalf of community developers, small businesses and nonprofit organizations to acquire vacant and abandoned properties for redevelopment, acquired the building, cleared the title of owed taxes, and sold the property to Straw.
