As a member of the SAC, Jarrell David will join a select group of 20 students from across the state, working collaboratively to drive policies and regulations geared towards enhancing learning, outcomes, and academic achievement for all Illinois students. Drawing upon monthly activities, rigorous research, and extensive discussions with both internal and external partners, the council will formulate and present their recommendations to the Board next spring.
In 2021, as an 8th grade student, David was appointed to Lindop Elementary School District 92’s seven-member Board of Education as the first-ever student member.

“I am so proud and heartened to see a former Lindop Elementary student to be one of only 20 students from across Illinois to win an appointment on the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Council,” said Lindop Superintendent Dr. Janiece Jackson. “We are elated, but not surprised to see that he is continuing his advocacy for all students, as this was evidenced when he was in third grade.”
Broadview community stands behind Jarrell.
“Jarrell is absolutely a conduit to the change that we all seek for our future generations,” said Dr. Jackson. “The entire Broadview community stands behind Jarrell, anticipating the positive, thoughtful changes for which he will advocate on behalf of students throughout Illinois, and it underscores the potential and capability of our local students.”
