Lindop Board Approves $12 Million Budget with $100,000 Surplus
District Officials Applaud $18 Million in District "Savings Account"

(Broadview, IL) — The Lindop School District 92 Board of Education has officially approved the district's budget for the 2024-2025 school year. The $12 million budget includes a surplus of $100,000 and an $18 million fund balance or “savings account”, underscoring the district's commitment to sound financial planning and fiscal responsibility, according to district officials.
“Our board has worked diligently to ensure that we are intelligently managing our finances in a way that benefits both our students and our community,” said Board President Aaron Hannah. “This surplus and our strong fund balance reflect our commitment to responsible financial stewardship. We’re in a position to meet any challenges that come our way, while also supporting the families in our district.”
The district’s $18 million fund balance ensures that Lindop is well-prepared to handle unforeseen expenses such as emergency building repairs or payroll obligations without the need to rely on bank loans.

“This fund balance, often referred to as the district’s "savings account," provides the financial security necessary to maintain smooth operations, even in times of unexpected financial demands, which we have had in the past,” said Hannah. “We don’t need to take on debt to pay our bills. So our savings account protects taxpayers.”
In addition to its strong fiscal position, Lindop School District 92 continues to support the community by returning significant funds to taxpayers. Last year alone, the district returned $342,000, marking the fifth consecutive year of providing such tax relief.

“We are proud of the fact that we returned $342,000 to our taxpayers last year, a practice we’ve upheld for five years now,” said Superintendent Dr. Janiece Jackson. “It’s a reflection of the district’s thoughtful budgeting and ongoing focus on the well-being of our community and taxpayers.”
Board Secretary Shyrl Griffin echoed Hannah and Jackson’s sentiments.
“The Lindop School District 92 Board of Education remains committed to maintaining a balanced budget while ensuring that both the school community and taxpayers benefit from responsible fiscal management,” said Griffin. “We are proud of protecting taxpayers.”
