(Broadview, IL) – West suburban Lindop Elementary School students in the Village of Broadview have just achieved a commendable feat, say school officials.

The school's 8th-grade students have demonstrated impressive growth in reading and math, growing as much or more than 99% of students taking the same test according to results tracked across the 2022-2023 school year from Fall to Spring on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test. Growth in the 99th percentile will translate to increased student achievement, growing some students as many as three grade levels in one school year.

"These results aren't just numbers. They're a reflection of the commitment, passion, and resilience of every single individual at Lindop Elementary,” said Board of Education President Aaron Hannah. “Achieving such growth, especially during these challenging times, is nothing short of extraordinary, and the results stand as a testament to the dedication, hard work, and the effective strategies adopted by the educators, students, and the entire school community.”

The MAP test serves as a predictor to student achievement on the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), the prime state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in public school districts. Specifically tailored to assess a school district’s adherence to academic “Common Core” standards, the IAR provides insights into students' understanding of English language arts and mathematics.

Lindop’s Superintendent echoes Hannah’s sentiments.

"Our students continue to shine, defying expectations, setting new benchmarks, and closing the achievement gap,” said Superintendent Dr. Janiece Jackson remarked. “Their success on MAP is a direct reflection of the rigorous curriculum, the unwavering support from our educators, and the collaborative spirit of Lindop School District 92."

Meanwhile, Lindop’s top academic officials presented an action plan to the Board of Education on August 15 to further bolster math scores, ensuring that the trajectory of academic excellence continues for the district’s 350-person student body.
