Lindop Hosts 14th Annual Regional Scripps Spelling Bee
8th Grader Dev Katira of Hoffman Estates Wins

(Broadview) – Dev Katira, an eighth-grade student from Hoffman Estates, emerged victorious at the 14th Annual ISC Regional Scripps Spelling Bee, held on Tuesday, March 26th, at Lindop Elementary School in Broadview.
After ten rounds, Katira clinched the win by correctly spelling “bruschetta”.
Paige Timpe from Palatine and Katie Park from Park Ridge tied for second place among the 10 student finalists.

Katira now advances to the National Scripps Spelling Bee, taking place in Washington, D.C. from May 26th to May 31st. His trip will be made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of Pepper Construction and ARCON and Associates, who will be providing Dev and a parent with an all-expense paid trip to attend the national competition.
Dr. Janiece Jackson, Superintendent of Lindop School District 92, expressed her pride in hosting the event and congratulated Dev on his win.

"We are thrilled for Dev and extend our heartfelt congratulations on his impressive victory at the Regional Spelling Bee,” said Dr. Janiece Jackson, Superintendent of Lindop School District 92. “We are also incredibly honored to have hosted this year's competition after seven years of pursuing this opportunity for our students and community.”
Board of Education Vice President Tonya Taylor echoed Dr. Jackson's sentiment and expressed gratitude to the sponsors.
"We are immensely grateful to Pepper Construction and ARCON and Associates for their invaluable sponsorship,” said Taylor. “Their generosity ensures Dev can represent our region on the national stage.”
