Lindop School Board Accepts Resignation of Vice President Tonya Taylor
Taylor submitted a letter of resignation earlier this month, citing August 5 as the effective date

[Broadview, IL] – The Lindop School District 92 Board of Education voted at its August 20 meeting to formally and – reluctantly – accept the resignation of Vice President Tonya Taylor, who had served on the board since 2013.
Taylor submitted a letter of resignation earlier this month, citing August 5 as the effective date of her resignation.
Taylor’s fellow board members expressed their gratitude for her years of service and dedication to the Lindop community.

"Tonya Taylor has been an invaluable mentor to me and a tireless advocate for our students,” said Board President Aaron Hannah. “She has always pushed us to strive for excellence and to ask the tough questions that need to be asked. We will miss her leadership and her passion."
Superintendent Dr. Janiece Jackson echoed Hannah’s sentiments.

“Tonya Taylor’s resignation is bittersweet. She has been a powerful ally in our efforts to increase classroom investment and improve student outcomes,” said Jackson. “Her commitment to our students and her unwavering support for our educators have made a lasting impact on our district.”
During her tenure on the board, Taylor was a champion for educational equity and access. She played a key role in the development and implementation of several initiatives aimed at closing the achievement gap and ensuring that all Lindop students have the opportunity to succeed.
“Tonya was also a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, transparency, and student achievement,” said Dr. Jackson. “She worked tirelessly to ensure that the district’s resources were being used efficiently and effectively to support student learning.”
In her remarks to the board on Tuesday, Taylor expressed, at moments through tears, her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Lindop community.
“Thank you Dr. Jackson, thank you to the administration, thank you to the staff, thank you to my husband, and thank you to the mayor [Katrina Thompson]. This is very hard,” said Taylor. “It takes a village to educate children. And I always wanted to be a voice. This is my community. This is the community that I love. I sat in that seat to help the young scholars of this community.”
Taylor’s husband, Lincoln Taylor, a former Village of Broadview trustee, was on hand for his wife’s farewell remarks.
The Lindop School Board will begin the process of appointing a new board member to fill the remainder of Taylor’s term, and a new vice president in the coming weeks.
