WINNETKA, IL — The first phase of the Elder Lane Beach cleanup is complete, according to Winnetka officials, but the beach will remain closed for the remainder of the summer.
During the closure so far, crews have removed several large sections of concrete, metal debris and the damaged section of the Elder Lane Pier. Due to challenging lake conditions recently, officials said the construction timeline has extended beyond the 2025 beach season.
"This essential work ensures the long-term safety and usability of the beach for future generations. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to protect and improve our lakefront," village officials said in a statement.
