Fatal Edens Expressway Crash Claims Life Of Driver Near Northfield, Police Say

NORTHFIELD, IL —A motorist died Tuesday after their car struck a concrete barrier on the Edens Expressway in Northfield, authorities said.

The one-car crash took place shortly before 7:15 a.m. in the outbound lanes of Interstate 94 north of Winnetka Road, according to Illinois State Police.

The driver, the only person in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead, state police said.

Traffic in the two right lanes of traffic remained open as investigators worked the scene during morning rush hour.

No additional preliminary investigation or information about the deceased driver was immediate available Tuesday morning.
