Glencoe Obituary: Joan Walker, 86

Joan M. Walker, Glencoe, IL, passed away July 27, 2021. She was born on July 11, 1935 and raised in Norfolk, Virginia. She met her husband, Jim, in Florida and they married on December 18, 1965 in Norfolk, Virginia. They settled in Glencoe in the late 1960s where they built their successful commercial real estate consulting business and raised their family. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband, Jim. She is survived by her two children Lee and Matthew (Lauren). Joan embraced her role as ‘Nana’ to her four grandchildren Jamie and Aiden, Payton and Cody. She was a living inspiration of strength, courage and determination with compassion for all. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia next to Jim. Joan will be honored with a celebration of her life on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Watts Recreation Center, 305 Randolph St., Glencoe, IL.
