GLENCOE, IL — Glencoe School District 35 officials initiated a temporary lockdown Friday as officers from the Glencoe Department of Public Safety arrested five children outside while school was in session, authorities said.

Shortly before 1 p.m., officers carried out the arrest in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue. Police believe the car was stolen from Waukegan earlier this week before the juvenile suspects drove it to Glencoe, according to a statement from department officials.

Authorities said District 35 initiated the lockdown according to a pre-established safety protocol with public safety department.
