Making A Difference To Youth Through New Children's Book

Based on a true story, "Adventures In Ecuador: Diary of a Volunteer" by Winnetka author Lynn Sanders demonstrates the power of kindness.

"We need to help our youth recognize their value," says Lynn Sanders, Founder/President of Difference Makers Media, and an award-winning writer, author and media host. "That's why I felt compelled to create my empowering children's picture book -- Adventures In Ecuador: Diary of a Volunteer."

With youth suicide being the second leading cause of death among kids, and the bombardment of negative media, Sanders recognized that we're all affected on both a mental and physical level by the stories surrounding us. Since many inspiring stories never reach the public's attention, Sanders is passionate about uplifting humanity through empowering stories.

Her business, Difference Makers Media, helps cause-focused entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations craft, tell and share their stories online. She also creates tribute and family legacy videos to capture special stories. Yet in raising two boys, Lynn noticed that most children's picture book biographies are based on famous people. Many caring people never get recognized in the world of children's biography books.

Adventures In Ecuador: Diary of a Volunteer is based on her family's series of volunteer healthcare missions to Ecuador with the nonprofit, Causes for Change International. The book shines a light on Zully Alvarado, the founder of Causes For Change, while also sharing the imagined perspective of Lynn's son, Andrew, who accompanied his parents. Andrew's role on the trip was to teach children who never had their own toothbrush, how to brush their teeth. He also served assisted his family in gathering toy donations and shining a light over the mouths of children who received dental care for the first time.

Although the trips took place over a decade ago, Sanders knew these life lessons would benefit youth and are relevant at any time.

"Children are faced with many challenges that past generations never had to deal with," Sanders reflected. "We need to empower our kids with educational tools that reinforce positive values."

The book is planned for publication in late February. To learn more or be a last-minute sponsor and receive Lynn's "thank you" gifts, including a raffle for a complimentary hotel stay, visit: Crowdfundr.com/AdventuresInEcuador.
