North Shore Country Day Takes 10th Place In Illinois Science Olympiad
The North Shore Country Day Science Olympiad team competed with 41 middle school teams from across the state.

WINNETKA, IL — Students from North Shore Country Day returned with more than a dozen medals from a trip downstate for the Illinois Science Olympiad state tournament against 41 other middle school teams.
The tournament was held Friday and Saturday at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, with the Winnetka private school finishing in 10th place overall and in 9th place in its division, according to school officials.
“What a fantastic finish to a wonderful Science Olympiad season,” said Lee Block, a middle school math, science and robotics teacher and the head coach of the NSCD Science Olympiad team.

“We could not be more proud of this team for their accomplishments," Block said in a statement. "All year long they have been very coachable, shown great sportsmanship, been excellent citizens and really fun to work with.”
Science Olympiad tournaments include a series of team events, for which students prepare during the academic year, according to school officials. They include events focusing on biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology. Events are balanced between requiring knowledge of science concepts, applications and process skills.

Medals were awarded to the top five finishers at the state tournament. The following North Shore Country Day students were among those to come home with medals:
- 3rd Place—Write It, CAD It (Trial Event)—Saisha Sharma '29 of Glenview and Sophia Storino '29 of Wilmette
- 4th Place—Bridges—Alexander Roy '27 of Wilmette and Cooper Larsen '27 of Winnetka
- 4th Place—Experimental Design—Elliot Andersen '27 of Evanston, Eli Gallaga '28 of Chicago and Alexander Roy '27 of Wilmette
- 4th Place—Optics (Trial Event)—Ezra Grossman '29 of Evanston and Sahil Tarsney '29 of Northbrook
- 5th Place—Anatomy and Physiology—Shirley Ni '27 of Glenview and Pratyay Rao '27 of Winnetka
- 5th Place—Crave the Wave—Eli Gallaga '28 of Chicago and Claire Zeigler '28 of Winnetka
