PAWS Chicago Hosts Angels With Tails Winnetka This Weekend

Dozens of adorable pets will be adoptable this weekend in Downtown Winnetka.

WINNETKA, IL — Chicago's larges no kill humane organization is gearing up to host its ninth annual Angels With Tails Winnetka event this weekend.

The family-friendly pet adoption event will take place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. PAWS and five other local rescue groups will bring dozens of adoptable pets to 25 participating retailers along Elm Street, Chestnut Street and Lincoln Avenue in Downtown Winnetka.

"Bring the whole family to shop for a cause, meet adorable adoptable pets, and enjoy complimentary goodies for your four-legged companion," a PAWS Chicago spokesperson said.

PAWS Chicago was founded 28 years ago to end the euthanasia of homeless pets and to showcase shelter animals in need of homes. Its first event in 1998 sparked Chicago's No Kill movement and led to an 89 percent decrease in pet euthanasia.

However, the need still remains urgent, PAWS said. Newborn litters surge in summer and tend to overwhelm shelters, putting thousands of pets' lives in danger.

Alongside pet adoptions, the lively, community event will also feature raffles, wine tastings, puppuccinos and window displays. Several retailers will donate a portion of their sales for the day to support PAWS.
