Vacant Winnetka School Board Position Filled
Following the sudden resignation of a former School Board member, the Winnetka School Board began the search for a replacement.
WINNETKA, IL — The Winnetka Public School Board appointed a new member Thursday to fill a vacant seat left open after the sudden resignation of a former Board member.
Former board member Katherine Myers-Crum resigned during her first term on the board on March 18, leaving more than two years left in the term. Per School Board Policy 2:70, the Board sought to appoint a member to fill the vacancy within 60 days.
According to School Board officials, 12 qualified people submitted applications for the position and seven interviews were conducted in person. The decision to appoint one applicant, Jackie McLaughlin, was made through a majority vote from the Board.

McLaughlin will serve the remainder of the term, which expires in April 2027.
"I am confident that Ms. McLaughlin, along with newly elected Board member Mr. Andrew Hotz, will be effective strategic partners as the Board continues to navigate the path forward for The Winnetka Public Schools," School Board President Dan Waters said in a statement.

McLaughlin is a resident of the Hubbard Woods neighborhood with experience as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at UL Solutions, based in Northbrook. She earned a Bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and a Juris Doctor degree from the university's college of law.
