Victim In Fatal Edens Expressway Crash Identified, State Police Seek Dashcam Video
A 35-year-old Rogers Park resident was behind the wheel of a gray SUV found with a visible hole in its windshield after a one-car crash.

NORTHFIELD, IL — State police are asking for help from the public in the investigation of this week's fatal traffic crash on the Edens Expressway.
Joseph Wheeler, 35, a resident of Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, died from injuries he suffered behind the wheel of a car that drove into the concrete center divider barrier around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the outbound lanes of Interstate 94.
Wheeler was pronounced dead about an hour after the crash, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which has conducted an autopsy and released Wheeler's identity but has not made a final determination of his cause of death.

Video from the scene showed a gray Toyota SUV with a hole several inches wide in the driver's side of its windshield, a damaged driver's side mirror and little other visible damage from the one-car crash.
Police said Wheeler was the only person in the car. The criminal investigations division of Illinois State Police is conducting an investigation into his death.

State police encouraged anyone who was driving in the area at the time of the crash, anyone who observed the crash or anyone who has dash camera footage to contact ISP Troop 3 headquarters or submit a tip via online form.
