Volunteer Center Seeks New Treasurer/Bookkeeper

Do you have bookkeeping or accounting skills you would like to put to use to make a difference for people and causes in need? If so, the Volunteer Center is looking for a part-time, volunteer Treasurer/Bookkeeper to assist its very impactful nonprofit. The bookkeeper role is mostly required Sept-June, is handled remotely, but residence in the N.E. Metro Chicago (near north-side Chicago or northeastern suburbs) area for occasional in-person meetings. The work schedule is flexible. Experience with Quickbooks online is essential.
- Responsibilities (average 8 hours per month Sept thru June - minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 hours per month). Position is open immediately and has opportunity to grow with more hours and responsibilities if interested:
The Treasurer/bookkeeper maintains the Volunteer Center's financial transactions of the organization. The Treasurer is a Member of the Executive Committee and carries out the financial functions related to all activities conducted while carrying out the Volunteer Center’s mission. The Treasurer provides financial information to the Board monthly or on an as needed basis.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- account and bill payments
- expense reimbursements
- allocate cash, in-kind contributions and special event income in Quickbooks Online
- prepare monthly QuickBooks profit and loss statements and other reports as needed by the executive board and executive director. The board generally does not meet in July and August.
- reconcile bank account

- experience with Quickbooks Online
- ability to prepare reports for monthly board meetings
- minimum experience in bookkeeping or accounting one-year related experience
- support volunteerism!

The Volunteer Center was founded in 1960 and is a successful volunteer referral organization that has 2 part-time staff and a volunteer board that serves the northeast metropolitan Chicago area. The VC refers potential volunteers and service groups with over 165 diverse nonprofit partner organizations to help them achieve their missions. The varied causes of the nonprofit partners support people of all ages, abilities and needs. The VC hosts multiple community service days to help thousands in critical need.
