The Warner Institute and The Volunteer Center Honor Martin Luther King
The Warner Institute and Volunteer Center Invite you to Honor the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Community House in Winnetka

On Monday, January 15th, the Volunteer Center with lead sponsor The Warner Institute will be hosting the MLK Day of Service that includes multiple hands-on projects for people of all ages and abilities at The Community House in Winnetka, 620 Lincoln Avenue. Families, friends and service groups are invited to stop by anytime between 11 and 2pm on this national day of service. There are no reservations or admission fees required. While most project materials are provided, those who choose to make a no-sew blanket for the homeless are asked to bring 4 yards of fleece fabric. There will be a limited number of fleece blanket kits available for purchase for volunteers who couldn't buy fabric prior to MLK Day. However, participants over the years have enjoyed selecting their own patterns at fabric stores, which also guarantees they will be able to make a blanket. It also adds value to the project for young people, because it gives them an opportunity to become more involved in the full service activity. Other projects available include pet toys for orphaned animals, making Valentine's cards for hospitalized children and adults and toiletry kits for students in need. Please consider bringing donations of new socks for the unhoused.
As a special annual treat, Orphans of the Storm representatives and a potential dog or two for adoption will be present.
The Volunteer Center welcomes this year's MLK Day Lead Sponsor, The Warner Institute, a leading aesthetic and reconstructive surgery practice in Northfield. In addition to innovative treatments and a satisfied client list, Dr.Jeremy Warner was honored by the Volunteer Center in 2021 for his work as the director of their mission, The Face The Future Foundation, where he and his staff donate Dr. Warner's life changing reconstructive services to patients in Nepal and also train surgeons there pro-bono on latest practices. The Warner Institute believes in service and community engagement, a true symbiotic partner of the Volunteer Center!
