WCC Souper Bowl of Caring Benefits Common Pantry

Food Drive collects 721 pounds of food

Mission Doing at Winnetka Congregational Church (WCC) hosted its annual Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive Collection earlier this month to benefit Common Pantry. Since 1967, Common Pantry meets the emergency needs of the local community by providing healthy food, kinship and support to help overcome poverty-related challenges in Chicago’s northside.

Collections took place from January 28 through Super Bowl Sunday, February 11. Special thanks to the Grand Food Center for allowing WCC Youth and volunteers to collect donations at their Winnetka location on February 4.

In total, 721 pounds of food was collected and donated to Common Pantry, more than doubling last year’s donation total, and far exceeding the goal of 400 pounds of food.

Thank you to everyone who supported this effort!
