Winnetka Historical Society To Screen Behind-The-Scenes 'Home Alone' Documentary
Just in time for the holidays, "Making the Movie Home Alone" will be screened on Dec. 18 at North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka.
WINNETKA, IL — Fans of the John Hughes holiday classic "Home Alone" can revisit the movie’s origins at a special screening hosted by the Winnetka Historical Society next week at North Shore Country Day School.
The event will feature “Making the Movie Home Alone,” a 32-minute documentary produced during the pandemic by Winnetka Historical Society president Holly Marihugh and local filmmaker John Newcombe.
"You will hear scintillating stories from family members who lived in the house during the shoot, as well as local actors and extras, and view unique footage shot by a neighbor," according to the local historical society.

The film includes stories from the Abendshien family, who lived in the iconic Winnetka house during production, with behind-the-scenes details such as memories of stuntmen performing risky scenes and the construction of a replica of their home for filming, the Chicago Tribune reported.
After the screening, attendees can test their knowledge with a trivia contest focused on "Home Alone" and other movies filmed on the North Shore. Snacks and beverages are included in the $15 admission fee.
