Winnetka Residents: April 21 Deadline for Tree Plantings on a Public Parkways
Want to fill a foliage void in the community or replace a dead or diseased tree with a new one? Friday is the last day to make a request.

WINNETKA, IL - If you'd like to see a freshly planted tree sprouting on a public street in Winnetka, submit a request before it's too late.
Friday, April 21 is the deadline to ask the village for new foliage, according to a community update. Crews will be fulfilling requests by planting trees with 2 1/2 diameter trunks along public parkways. The service is free for residents, but those wanting larger trees must spring for the cost difference, officials said.
"The village of Winnetka takes great pride in its tree-lined streets and plentiful green space," they said, in a written statement. "Preserving the natural beauty of the community’s urban forest remains a top priority."

The village forester, in conjunction with the Environmental & Forestry Commission, has developed a Master Tree Planting List that contains tree species tolerant of urban conditions within Winnetka.
"Ultimately, the village forester is responsible for recommending the tree species best suited to each specific site and will implement watering programs when drought conditions arise," the Winnetka website says.
