Helmar Lutheran Church is having an All You Can Eat Kumla Dinner on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 4:30pm-7:00pm. The proceeds are to support the HLC Food Pantry which is serving 120+ families, twice a month, in our 18th year of operation. The dinner includes Ham, Kumla (like a dumpling), applesauce, dessert and beverage. For those that would prefer, a baked potato will be substituted for Kumla. The church is located at 11935 Lisbon Road, Rural Newark, IL 815-201-3789. Carry-outs will be available. It is a free-will donation dinner. We will have something new this year, you can buy raffle tickets for a chance to win beautifully themed baskets, which will be on display at our dinner. Please help support this fundraiser and thereby helping your neighbors in need.

Eric W. Stiles Sr., a Master Bespoke Tailor and Designer with over four decades of experience in high-end fashion and garment construction, has worked with internationally renowned fashion houses including Brioni, Giorgio Armani, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford.
No experience needed—just bring your working sewing machine, foot pedal, navy blue all-purpose thread, and a passion to learn. These 2½-hour, immersive, no-pressure classes cover Sewing, Tailoring, and Pattern Making, offering rare access to world-class techniques in a supportive, intimate setting. 
Morning and evening classes are available. You may start anytime from January through the end of March 2026, but it must be on dates that we have classes.
