Meet A Future Leader In Gary: Jasmine King
Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people achieving great things in our community.

The future of Gary is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Jasmine King, who are making a positive impact in and around Gary.
Jasmine, a recent graduate of West Side Leadership Academy, was named one of 12 recipients of the prestigious 2023 C. Eugene Cato Memorial Scholarship by the Indiana High School Athletic Association. This annual scholarship recognizes outstanding senior student-athletes for their excellence in academics, leadership and community involvement. Jasmine who held the top ranking in her class of 294 students with an exceptional 4.38 GPA, exemplifies the scholarship’s core values of character, sportsmanship and citizenship.
A well-rounded student-athlete, Jasmine has earned varsity letters in Track and Field, Cross Country and Tennis, and served as Varsity Co-Captain of her Track team. Beyond athletics, she was the Vice President of West Side’s National Honor Society, President of the Student Government and an active member of the Drama Club. Jasmine is also committed to giving back to her community, dedicating her time to organizing food and supply giveaways in Gary. Post-graduation, she is continuing her academic journey at Indiana University Bloomington.
