Motorcyclist Dead After Hitting Deer On U.S. HWY 30

VALPARAISO, IN — Valparaiso police are investigating after they responded to a motorcycle that hit a deer and crashed, killing the driver in the 800 block of U.S. Highway 30 at 10:30 p.m. Monday. According to police, an officer found an unresponsive man in the roadway when they arrived at the scene. Valparaiso fire and EMS crews arrived and determined the motorcyclist was dead, police said.

According to witnesses, police said the motorcyclist was headed eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 just east of Sager Road, when he hit the deer.

In addition to other motorist crashes, Patch recently reported fall is the time of year when nearly 50 percent of deer vs. car crashes occur. There are a number of online tips to avoid hitting deer, especially at peak mating season.
