Switching gears after the new year, Forever Young Sports Cards will be at Da Region Sports Cards and Collectibles Expo in Schererville and they aren't coming alone. Actor Ari Lehman, former Chicago Bears wide receiver Bernard Berrian and Philadelphia Eagles legend Vince Papale are joining them at various times.

Among his many roles, Lehman starred as the young Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th. He is the first actor to play Jason. Lehman also has a music career, solo and with his punk metal band First Jason, a name derived from his portrayal of Jason.

Berrian starred at Fresno State, before the Bears drafted him in 2004. He played four seasons with the Bears, followed by four with the Minnesota Vikings. Overall in his career, he caught 281 passes and had 24 touchdowns.

Papale gained fame in 1976 when he won a spot on the Eagles after a private workout. At 30, he became the NFL's oldest rookie non-kicker to play with no college football experience. He attended Philadelphia's St. Joseph College and competed in track and field. Papale played three seasons with the Eagles as a wide receiver and on special teams. In 2006, Papale's story hit the big screen in Invincible, with Mark Wahlberg portraying him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Papale at an event held by Global Traveler magazine in 2011. Papale was one of the most engaging guests of honor GT has had. He arrived early, told great stories, mingled with all and stayed until the end. He was a major hit with the attendees, but especially me.

As the ultimate underdog, Papale immediately became one of my favorites during his time with the Eagles. I have met hundreds of athletes and celebrities and chatting with Papale still ranks among my best encounters.

Da Region Sports Cards and Collectibles Expo will be held Saturday and Sunday, January 29 and 30, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Villa Cesare Events and Banquets in Schererville. More celebrity guest announcements are expected, but the three from Forever Young Sports Cards are enough to get me to make the hour drive from Chicago. I can't wait.
