Amcor Plastics and Apparel Company Invests in Ames

An existing plastic manufacturer announced it would update its equipment and Championship Productions launched a new clothing line.

In recent Ames business news, Amcor Rigid Plastics reinvested in its Ames location and Championship Productions launched a new clothing line.

Amcor Rigid Plastic, a packaging manufacturer, received $210,000 in financial assistance and tax benefits equaling a $24 million capital investment that will keep jobs at the Ames plant.

The company makes plastic packaging for beverages, food, spirits, personal and home care and pharmaceuticals industries and has 65 facilities in 12 countries, according to a release from the Ames Economic Development Commission.

Championship Productions announced plans to create a new apparel company with former Iowa State University basketball player Paul Doerrfeld called Championship Productions Apparel.

The company plans to focus on clothing marketed to coaches, athletes, parents, athletic directors, race directors and booster clubs, according to a release from Championship Productions.
