Ames Crime Roundup: Assault, Church Fires, and Drunken Damage

Two Ames residents with apparent mental health problems were sentenced in Story County Court last week.

A woman accused of starting a fire in St. Thomas Aquinas Church who suffered from mental illness for several years was sentenced to 10 years in prison on second-degree arson and criminal mischief charges.

And a man accused of threatening to harm homeless people in Ames was sentenced to probation and will no longer be allowed to possess firearms.
