Ames Man Dials 911 for Help and is Arrested

An Ames man was charged after allegedly misusing 911 twice.

An Ames man who wanted police to help him recover “stolen items” was the one arrested when he used 911 to call for help.

The 51-year-old man called 911 about 8:30 p.m. July 29, and told police that he wanted his speakers back from his roommate, complaints said. The officer told him it was a misuse of 911 and not to call the emergency number again and that he would be arrested if he did, according to complaints.

Apparently the man didn't listen. Before the officer left, the man made an emergency call to police to complain about the officer.
