Ames Man Involved in Accident With Motorcyclist in Story County

A Newton man was sent to Mercy Medical in Des Moines for possible injuries Saturday after he crashed into the rear of a fertilizer trailer driven by an Ames man, according to a report from the Story County Sheriff's Office.
Jeffrey Longnecker, 52, Ames, told a Story County Sheriff's deputy that he was hauling an empty anhydrous tank south on 620th Avenue when he slowed to turn east on 305th Street and a motorcyclist came up quickly behind him and struck the trailer, according to the accident report.

The motorcyclist, Cory Harmon, 24, was unconscious when Longnecker went to check on him, but up and walking around by the time deputies arrived, the report said. Harmon seemed confused and disoriented so he was taken to Mercy Medical in Des Moines, where he was treated and released, according to the report.
