DNR: Ames Man Accidentally Shoots Hand While Unloading Gun
Chris Degan shot himself while unloading a handgun at Brush Creek shooting range, a DNR report says.

An Ames man accidentally shot himself in the hand Monday evening while at the Brushy Creek shooting range in Webster County, according to a release from the DNR.
Chris Degan, 33, was unloading his 9mm handgun when the weapon fired into his left hand about 5 p.m., according to the release. A friend took him to a hospital in Webster City where he was transferred by helicopter to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The DNR said Degan's injury was believed to be non-life threatening.
