Ames Middle School Participates in Science Bowl

Iowa Regional Science Bowl begins Friday at Ames Lab.

Ames Middle School students will be among those participating in the Iowa Regional competition of the National Science Bowl Friday and Saturday hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science.

This is one of the nation's largest science competitions, according to a recent blog on Ames Patch.

Teams of four will be tested in a number of areas and winners earn paid trips to Washington D.C. for the national final competitions.

The local competition will take place at the Ames Lab at Iowa State University, but thousands of middle- and high-school students will have competed for a spot in the National competition by March 9 at 120 regional competitions all across the country as well as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
