Ames Police Blotter: Employees at Campustown Bars Charged with Serving to Intoxicated People

The Ames Police Department's Safe Neighborhoods Team found 56 percent of Campustown bars failed a recent alcohol compliance check.

Employees at nine of 16 bars in Ames served alcohol to an intoxicated person, according to a press release from the Ames Police Department.

The Ames Police Department's Safe Neighborhoods Team checked Campustown area bars Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 to see if employees at the establishments would serve alcohol to intoxicated people.

Nine employees were cited with selling alcohol to an intoxicated person, a simple misdemeanor, in the sting:

Seven bars targeted in the investigation would not sell alcohol to an intoxicated person. The names of those establishments follow below.

Big Shots, The Cave, Es Tas, Mother’s Pub, Outlaws, Paddy’s Irish Pub, and Welch Avenue Station.

Licenses of establishments that serve alcohol to intoxicated people can be impacted, according to theΒ Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.
