A 25-year-old Ames man has been charged with third-degree sex abuse and sexual exploitation of a minor for an alleged ongoing relationship he had with a 14 to 15-year-old girl in 2012.
Craig Maggard, of North Oak Avenue, was arrested on the charges Thursday evening, police said.
Police spoke with the girl in the summer of 2012 and she admitted to performing sex acts with Maggard and told police that she believed they were in a relationship, criminal complaints said. As part of the investigation, police seized Maggard's cell phone and found a topless photo of the girl, according to complaints.
