Ames Police: Drunk Man Released, Sent Back to Jail in the Same Day

Story County Jail processes repeat customer.

A 49-year-old man apparently celebrated a little too much after being released from Story County Jail recently.

Ames Police went to the 600 block of Lincoln Way just before 8 p.m. Monday April 22 for a report of a drunk man and recognized the man as Terry Stromley, according to criminal complaints.

Stromley told police that he was drunk and had been drinking ever since he was released from jail that afternoon, complaints said.

Stromley had blood shot watery eyes, slurred speech and swayed when standing, complaints said. He wouldn't comply with field sobriety testing and physically resisted the officer during his arrest and tried to kick, complaints said.

Stromley was charged with public intoxication, third offense; and interference with official acts and was returned to the Story County Jail.
