UPDATE: Ames Police Investigate Stabbing, Ask for Public's Help
A man was reportedly stabbed during a fight in the 400 block of East 7th Street.

Ames Police released the name of the man who was reportedly stabbed in the 400 block of East 7th Street Wednesday and asked for the public's help to locate a dark colored SUV that was in the area about 6:40 p.m.
Eddie Williams, 27, was taken to theΒ Mary Greeley Medical CenterΒ about 7 p.m. Wednesday. Staff there reported the stabbing to police saying that a man came to the emergency room with βan apparent stab wound to the chest,β which required surgery, a release from the police department said.
Williams' condition is not being released.

Police believe that Williams knew the person who stabbed him.
CMDR. Geoff Huff declined to give the exact location of the fight. A cluster of townhomes and apartments called Eastwood sit at the end of the street behind a cemetery.Β
