Ames Police Looking For Driver of Stolen Truck
Police were led on a chase early Wednesday that ended in the Skunk River.

A “suspicious” vehicle led Ames police on a chase that ended with a drive into the Skunk River, police say.
Police first tried to stop the 1986 Chevrolet K30 flat bed truck about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday near Dayton and Edison streets, the driver would not pull over an a pursuit ensued.
The driver stopped near Lincoln Way and Carnegie and let a passenger out before continuing west on Lincoln Way and south on Freel Drive. The driver traveled through a corn field and drove into Skunk River before hopping out and running from police, according to a release from the Ames Police Department.

The man is described as a white male with dark hair and a mustache wearing a brown Carhart jacket and blue jeans.
Police learned after the chase that the truck was reported stolen out of Nevada.
