Ames Police: Man Runs from Car, Reports it Stolen

Ames Police Blotter Nov 9. to Nov. 10.

An Ames man was charged with making false reports after he allegedly ran from his parked car and reported it as stolen after a police officer pulled up to check on it, according to criminal complaints.

An officer saw a parked vehicle at S. Hyland Avenue and Wood Street in Ames about 11:56 p.m. Nov. 10 and saw a man later identified as 20-year-old Austin Bancks run from the area.

While the officer investigated the parked car, the man reported it as stolen and Bancks later returned to the area and told police that he said the car was stolen because he was mad at his girlfriend, according to criminal complaints.

Nov. 9

Clarissa Gouge, 21, Lincoln Swing, was charged with public intoxication, first offense; and disorderly conduct at 4:04 a.m.

Michael Heck, 21, Ogden, was charged with disorderly conduct at 4:18 a.m.

Mary Moody, 51, Second Street, was charged with a parole violation, at 5 p.m.

George Williams, 41, Wilson, was charged with a probation violation at 12 a.m.

Nov. 10

Austin Bancks, 20, Jackson Drive, was charged with making false reports to law enforcement at 11:56 p.m.

Jacob Eklund, 37, Grand Avenue, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and serious assault at 7:45 p.m.

Richard Garcia, 19, Mortensen Road, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:07 p.m.

Emily Herkenhoff, 20, Lynn Ave., was charged with minor on the premises, public intoxication, first offense; and possession of false ID, at 12:33 a.m.

Jeremiah Janes, 31, Douglas Ave., was charged with public intoxication at 1:34 a.m.

Natalie Peterson, 21 North Sherman Ave., was charged with unlawful possession of a prescription drug and public intoxication, first offense; at 11:14 p.m.

Bradley Vaneaton, 22, Maricopa Drive, was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense; at 2:16 a.m.
