
A Cedar Rapids man has been charged for allegedly swiping an Apple laptop from an Ames home in February.
Ames police were called to an apartment building Feb. 16 where a man told police that his Apple Macbook Pro went missing from his apartment while a neighbor was having a party, according to criminal complaints. He said he had left his door unlocked.

Police spoke to people at the party who said they saw a man leaving with a laptop, complaints said. Police were eventually able to identify the man as Saromo Mugisha and interviewed him in April. Mugisha told police that he took the laptop, according to complaints. Police also spoke with another man who said he bought a laptop from Mugisha, complaints said.Β
Mugisha, 20, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested on a warrant June 18 by the Story County Sheriff's Office. He was charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. He posted a bond and was released from Story County Jail onΒ Thursday, according to court records.
